Does Someone Listen to You? Does Someone Hear You?

The memory is as vivid today as it was when I was six years old. I’d been asleep upstairs, hearing a lot of commotion, I decided to go down the stairs to find out what was going on. I asked the person at the bottom of the stairs a question about all the noise, this is what I was told. ”You don’t need to know, go back to bed.” That nine word statement changed my entire life. I was not listened to! I was not heard. You might wonder how that changed my life?

Adults seem to forget that six-year-old children are just a smaller version of themselves. Smaller in stature, not smaller in feelings, emotions, or memory. They forget that the programming that goes on from the time of the third trimester in utero through age 8, whether the adult or the child is aware of it, is what programs the subconscious mind. It’s from the subconscious that we make 95% of our decisions.
